Meet Igal Svet

Igal Svet is an award-winning executive producer, buyer, and creative leader who has spent two decades redefining nonfiction storytelling across film and television. Known for deep relationships with the industry's top documentary filmmakers and production companies, he partners with visionary directors to bring bold, premium nonfiction projects to the world's leading platforms.

In 2023, Svet founded Night Owl Pictures, a next-generation, artist-centered production company built for bold, innovative storytelling, leading it ever since, including through a concurrent EVP role at Lionsgate's Blackfin. Under the Night Owl banner, he developed, sold, and executive produced Born to Be Viral: The Real Lives of Kidfluencers, which premiered on Hulu and Freeform in 2025. Shot over five years with exclusive access to top YouTube families, the series went on to earn two 2026 News & Doc Emmy nominations.

As EVP and Head of Documentaries at Blackfin, he expanded Lionsgate's unscripted slate across nearly every major streaming platform and cable network, developing hit true-crime series Death in Apartment 603: What Happened to Ellen Greenberg? (Hulu's #1 premiere, nominated for Best Limited Series at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards) and food-travel series Tony Shalhoub: Breaking Bread (CNN), alongside upcoming true-crime documentaries at Netflix, HBO Max, and others. He oversaw creative strategy, development, and business execution across the studio's documentary slate.

Previously, as Head of Documentaries at Discovery+, Svet delivered more than 50 acclaimed titles, including Introducing Selma Blair, Rebel Hearts, Francesco, Shaun White: The Last Run, The Truth About Jim, House of Hammer, and Trump: Unprecedented, pairing creative risk-taking with commercial success and positioning the platform as a nonfiction leader.

At National Geographic, Svet led the network's pivot to premium documentary storytelling, overseeing landmark projects including the Oscar-winning Free Solo, BAFTA-winning Jane, and Emmy-winning LA92, alongside hit series The Story of God with Morgan Freeman, Mars, and One Strange Rock — some of the network's highest-rated, most talked-about programming.

Born To Be Viral: The Real Lives of Kidfluencers

Born to Be Viral follows the first generation of children whose entire upbringing has been shared online by their parents, often to audiences of millions, with some families earning millions of dollars in the process.

Shot over five years with exclusive access to some of the world's leading kidfluencer families, including Like Nastya, family-vlogging pioneers the Fisher Family, and the McClure Family, parents to Forbes' top-ranked kidfluencer twins, the series pulls back the curtain on the real lives of kid influencers and their families. How far will the pursuit of likes and followers push these families? And when these kids grow up, will it have been worth it?
